5 days long course addressed to educators to explore how Mindfulness and Self-compassion support the creation of quality time and resource educators and learners; in Vienna, 11-15 April 2023.
Mindfulness is defined as “paying attention on purpose to the present moment without judging” (Jon Kabat-Zinn). This means developing the ability to pay deliberate attention to our experience and to focus in the “here and now”. We learn to tune in to what is going on in our mind and body and to treat ourselves with the power of kindness that is self-compassion. Becoming more aware of our thoughts, feelings and sensations in a way that suspends judgement and self criticism can have surprising results, like finding inner strengths and resources that help in being more focused, making wiser decisions, empowering the ability of learning and having more fulfilling relationship, for children, young people and adults alike.
The course invites to explore and experience:
- How to have quality time in educational contexts and to resource yourself and the learners at the same time
- How to support attention and concentration in the learning environment, to reduce disengagement and have a more open-minded group supporting inclusion
- How to support yourself and the learners to learn managing stress and emotions
- How to manage your energies and access your relaxation potential
- How to build your self-confidence and how to help the learners to build it
- How to become aware of and respect your own body
- How to support learners in learning body awareness and respect
- How to become aware of the breathing within us
- How to use self-compassion as resource in difficult situations
The course is based on the methodological approach of experiential learning as a way to go deeper into the practice of mindful meditation, self-compassion and appreciative enquiry allowing a deeper reflection, sharing of impact of the practices and appreciation of the experience.
A series of theoretical studies and research on the impact of meditation and in particular mindfulness and self-compassion will be shared and used as evidence to complement the individual and group experience.
A study visit to educational institutions Vienna, currently having mindfulness as part of its offer, is part of the programme.
The course has been inspired by the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Kristin Neff, Chris Germer, Mark Williams, Daniel Rechtschaffen, the “Way of Council”, Wake Up Schools project of the Plum Village and .b Mindfulness in Schools.
The course is powered by dōTERRA CPTG essential oils to create an inviting learning environment that supports attention, participation, learning and well-being.
Tuition fees are 540 Euros (included VAT) including course material.
